Sudarsan wins top prize at sculpture show

Renowned Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has won the first prize at the 8th International Sand Sculpture championship in Berlin for his sculpture showcasing the effect of global warming.

Pattnaik, who created a crying trunk, three monkeys saying 'You don't listen, You don't talk, You don't see, Don't put heads on sand, act now', won with maximum votes.

"I am glad to get this prize for the 5th time which set a record in Sandsation. I think people will be concerned about global warming," Sudarsan said in a statement after receiving the award.

Patric Steptoe from UK and Maria Eliot from Denmark received second and third prize respectively.

Sand artists from 10 countries like Denmark, Canada, USA, Netherlands, Ukren, Bulgaria etc participated in the competition themed 'Heads in sand'.
