Ruling Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Jitendra Singh 'Babloo', who was in the news for his alleged involvement in arson at state Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi's residence, is reported to have termed the Mayawati government as thoroughly corrupt.
Singh, who represents the Bikapur assembly constituency in Faizabad district, had said that jobs in the BSP government were up for sale and that there was a price tag on every new appointment. "It is no secret that jobs in the present government go only to those who are ready to shell out money", he told a local gathering in Sohawal town of his constituency on Tuesday evening.
Lashing out at the rampant corruption, Singh claimed that he had to literally fight his way to get employment to some 150 young job seekers . "I managed to get nearly 150 youth employed despite all the opposition by a cabinet minister.", he asserted.
According to him, "be it a job or a government contract or for that matter any other work, it was also impossible for anyone to get it done in the present regime , without paying bribes ." While maintaining that he was not bothered about anyone in the party other than Mayawati , the defiant MLA added, "I take my orders only from Behenji."
No sooner than the news of Babloo's insolent behaviour was flashed on a TV channel on Wednesday, he was summoned by the party high command . According to BSP sources, Babloo was reprimanded for his act . However party supremo Mayawati had chosen to withhold any punitive action against him for the time being.
Significantly, Babloo was rewarded for his role in the arson carried out by BSP activists in UP Congress president's house. Not long after the incident, his brother was given a berth in the upper house of Parliament.
