A 19-year-old student of Delhi University was kidnapped from New Delhi and allegedly raped by five people in a flat in Gurgaon, the police said on Tuesday.

The victim, who is pursuing a BA correspondence course from Dayal Singh College, was forced into a car by the men at around 8 am on Sunday from near a bus-stop where she was waiting for a bus.

Two of the accused are the girl's neighbours and were known to her. The incident came to light on Monday morning after the girl's family approached the police.

According to a senior police official, the girl was waiting for a bus near Bijwasan when two of her neighbours reached there in a car and started talking to her.

"The girl knew them and after some time, the duo offered her a lift in their car which she refused. She was then forced into the car," the official said.

The girl told the police that she was taken to a flat in Gurgaon where three others were waiting for them. They allegedly locked her in a room, the official said adding, and raped her one after another.

"After a few hours, they again raped her and later abandoned near her house in the evening," the official said.

The girl then reached her house and narrated the incident to her parents. After the parents approached the police, the official said, the girl was taken to a hospital where a medical examination confirmed sexual assault.

A case of rape was registered against five persons, including Rishi and Sonu, the neighbours, Chunmun and Vikas.

The identity of the fifth person was yet to be ascertained by the police. The official said a manhunt has been launched to nab the five men.

A boy was detained following her complaint but was later released after the girl told them that he was not the one who had raped her. Further investigations into the matter are on.
