Tackling terror: Mumbai gets high-speed interceptor boats

Last updated on: September 30, 2009

Following last year's terror attacks, the Mumbai police on Tuesday launched two more bulletproof boats - Koyna and Kaveri, touted to "be the fastest high-speed interceptor boats in Indian waters" at the Gateway of India.

The Indian made air-conditioned boats are equipped with advance engines, Global Positioning System and wireless sets. At least eight policemen in each of these speedboats armed with lifeguards, AK 47s and binoculars can keep a vigil along the 140-kiloemeter coastline of the city.
