A special court on Tuesday allowed Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra police to subject suspected Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative Mohammed Aslam alias Saleem to scientific tests to find out his role in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case.

Saleem, arrested from the New Delhi railway station on August 25, was handed over to ATS and produced before a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court in Mumbai on September 15. He has been in ATS custody since then.

The sanction was accorded by Designated Judge Y D Shinde who also extended his ATS custody till October 9.

Special public prosecutor Raja Thakre moved an application seeking permission to hold scientific tests on the accused.

Asked if the accused had any complaints from police, he replied in the negative.

The Delhi police had recovered explosives and devices while Saleem was boarding a train to Maharashtra.
