Advocates Association asks Karnataka CJ not to hear cases

Karnataka Chief Justice P Dinakaran, whom the Forum for Judicial Accountability charged with amassing wealth diproportionate to his known sources of income, found himself in more trouble with the Bangalore Advocates Association resolving on Thursday that he should not hear any cases until all allegations are cleared by the Supreme Court.

The association convened an emergency meeting on Thursday following the allegations and a representation that eminent jurists Fali S Nariman and Shanti Bhushan made to Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan on Wednesday, based on a report by the FJA, a Chennai-based lawyers group. The forum had published a list of Dinakaran's properties in Tamil Nadu. The CJI had summoned Dinakaran and asked him to explain. Dinakaran denied the charges.

The association also resolved to prepare a list of allegations against the Karnataka CJ, which would be submitted to the Chief Justice of India.The association also called upon all judges to declare their assets and liabilities.
