Musharraf's foolish comment will dent our image: Pak envoy

September 16, 2009 12:41 IST
Pakistan's High Commissioner to Britain Wajid Shams-ul- Hassan has termed former President General Pervez Musharraf's statement regarding misuse of United States' military aid as a 'foolish' comment, and has said that it could have a damaging effect on the country's image.

"Such unwise statements from the former president can damage the image of the country in international community," Hassan said.

In an interview with BBC radio, Hassan also rejected Musharraf's claims that he had not allowed the US to use the unmanned aircrafts against extremists inside Pakistan's geographical territory.

"Musharraf claims that he did not allow the US for drone attacks is not true as the drone attacks were started in his tenure," The News quoted Hasan, as saying.

He said the former general's statement could have an adverse effect on the US aid being provided to Pakistan. "At the time when Pakistan is combating the most difficult war on terrorism, his statement is akin to undermine Pakistan's efforts," Hassan added.
