Upbeat Cong says it will form govt in three states

Last updated on: October 14, 2009 00:08 IST

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Transport Kamal Nath on Tuesday claimed that the Congress would form the government in Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra.

"The Congress would form government in the three states (Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh) on its own as people are concerned about their future and feel secure with the Congress Party," Nath told reporters after flagging off a Chhindwara-Jhansi train in his constituency in Madhya Pradesh.

The vision of Congress is very clear and there is absolutely no problem in the party's tie-up with its allies, he said. On Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee's reported unhappiness with the UPA, the Congress leader said, "Mamata has lot of concern for West Bengal as she had struggled a lot for its people. She has different vision for Bengal and there is no dispute with her."

"Mamata has her own views about Bengal which are quite natural," he said.

Referring to his constituency, Nath said that with the completion of Chhindwara-Nagpur broad-guage line in 2012, the people of the region will have connectivity with the four metros -- Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi.
