US gives $ 1 lakh for AP, Karnataka flood victims

The United States on Thursday announced an assistance of $100,000 (Rs 46,68,980) for the victims of the recent floods in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka [ Images ].

Announcing the aid package, US Ambassador to India [ Images ] Timothy J Roemer said, "The heart-breaking personal loss, the destruction of homes and property, and the loss of cattle and crops have been devastating. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this time of great loss and tragedy."

He also offered condolences to the families of those killed and to those rendered homeless in the disaster, a release from the US embassy said.
