Air India airhostess approaches National Commission for Women

October 05, 2009 17:52 IST

Air India airhostess Komal Singh on Monday moved the National Commission for Women in the case of her alleged molestation and assault by two pilots on board a flight from Sharjah to New Delhi.

"I have come here because I think that I will get justice here. I want justice from the management (AI) as well as NCW for what has happened to me," Singh told mediapersons at the NCW office in New Delhi.

Singh met Commission Chairperson Girija Vyas and registered her complaint. Before the meeting, Vyas said, "NCW is always helpful for everybody and let me see what is the problem. We will talk to her. Up to now, I have not received any application. Whatever, I have read, I have read in the newspaper."

Singh has already registered an FIR with the city police charging two AI pilots with molestation and assault during a mid-air scuffle. The pilot Ranbeer Arora, co-pilot Aditya Chopra, the airhostess and a flight purser Amit Khanna were de-rostered by the airline management which took a serious view of the scuffle between the cockpit crew and some cabin crew members on Saturday.

The flight had 106 passengers and a seven-member crew on board the Airbus A-320 on an international flight.
