A group of Naxalites opened fire at a combined security force on Sunday that was creating awareness among villagers ahead of Maharashtra Assembly polls in the interiors of Gadhchiroli district, police said.
No one from security agencies was hurt in the incident, they said quoting initial reports reaching the district headquarters. The force consisting of district police and Border Security Force jawans was in Tadgaon area in Bhamragarh taluka in the interiors of Gadchiroli district to create awareness and instill a sense of confidence among villagers ahead of assembly polls on October 13, when a group of Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire on them, they said. The attack was promptly returned by the security forces,they said.
