Will probe Liberhan report leakage: PM

November 25, 2009 23:05 IST

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said the government will probe the leakage of the Liberhan Commission report, saying such a "regrettable" thing should not have happened.

"It is regrettable that it (the report) was leaked. It should not have happened. Whoever is responsible, we will inquire into it when I will go back (to New Delhi)," Singh told a press conference.

The prime minister said that he was out of the country when it took place and when he returns, he will talk to Home Minister P Chidambaram and others on the matter.

The Liberhan Commission, which probed the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition, had severely indicted top BJP leaders A B Vajpayee, L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and 65 others for their role in the demolition for "petty political gains".
