Kerala temples to get additional RAF protection

A high level meeting held at the behest of the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister T K A Nair, has decided to provide more companies of the Rapid Action Force to Sabarimala during the ensuing temple season.

Sources in the state home department told rediff.com that the central government is conducting a detailed meeting on Sabarimala with the state police chief and the home secretary following detailed intelligence report on the threat to the hill shrine. The central agencies had reported that the arrested duo of Tahawwur Hussain Rana and David Coleman Headley were in the process of targeting Sabarimala and Guruvayur temples and had got detailed sketches and maps of both the temples.

The high level meeting has also deiced to conduct a separate intelligence audit during the Sabarimala season and to be alert for any exigencies.

Sources also indicated that the Director General of Police has given a detailed presentation on the Sabarimala security aspects to the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary T K A Nair. The meeting also decided to provide more trains to manage the huge rush in the season.
