Car in Priyanka's cavalcade meets with accident

Interestingly, it was the same green-coloured Toyota Qualis SUV which Priyanka drove with her brother Rahul Gandhi sitting on the front seat for a little over 35 kms in Amethi constituency on Friday.

Every district has its own police escort and pilot vehicles which change the moment the jurisdiction of a district ends. The accident apparently happened when the change was taking place in Gauriganj town of the district when she was going to Fursatganj.

Kishori Lal Sharma, the Congress representative of the twin Lok Sabha constituencies of Amethi and Rae Bareli, was sitting in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

No one was hurt, police said. Security has been upgraded during her two-day visit and mediapersons were mostly kept at least 2 kms away from the venue where she interacted with villagers. The UP police has deployed PAC battalions at the venue of the meetings.
