"In the letter, I have expressed my deep anguish over the manner in which the investigation was handled after my son Rahul voluntarily shared information with the police," Bhatt told PTI on Thursday.
"I have narrated the chain of events I and my family had to go through after my son did what was expected of him as a responsible Indian citizen," the film veteran said.
"We woke up to a sense of great betrayal and irreversible damage. The Prime Minister should intervene and set the right example by condemning whatever happened. Otherwise such events would discourage any citizen from participating in the fight against the menace," he said.
Alleging that the investigating agencies had leaked selective information to the media, which projected his son 'in a wrong way,' Bhatt said taking advantage of the situation right wing forces had stopped screening of his movie 'Tum Mile' in Gujarat.
Bhatt said he had not asked for any security but reported to the Mumbai police about the level of threat he, his office and his movie faced.
Emraan Hashmi denies links with Headley
Trashing media reports about his alleged links with American terror suspect David Headley, Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi on Thursday said he never met any person by that name.
"These allegations are baseless and are causing harm to my image and day-to-day life. I am very upset by the irresponsible behavior of the media," he said.
In a statement issued through his lawyer Rohini Vakil, Emraan said he was 'shocked' to see the news channels put out reports without proper verification.
"I was in touch with Joint Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, Rakesh Maria, to clarify whether the NIA (National Investigative Agency) had given any such information to the media . However, Maria very clearly denied any such information had been passed on and that my name has never been linked in this case," he said.
Claiming the NIA had not contacted him so far, the actor threatened legal action against news channels or publications for dragging his name in the case.
Headley, suspected Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the charge of plotting terror attack in India, along with his associate Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Canadian of Pakistani origin.
Their involvement is also suspected in 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai last year. Headley was alleged to have established contact several Bollywood personalities during his stay in Mumbai. He and Rana had visited India between 2006 and 2009.
