A businessman was allegedly shot at by two persons at suburban Andheri in Mumbai [ Images ] on Wednesday, according to the police.
The duo, who came on a bike, shot at businessman Deepak Bhandari, who was injured in the firing, the police said.
The accused, identified as Faraz Khan and Rakesh Parwe, who hail from Madhya Pradesh [ Images ], were immediately arrested, after being chased by the police and the public, Deputy Commissioner of Police K Prasanna said.
"Faraz has claimed that he is the son of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman, who is also a member of the All India [ Images ] Congress Committee," Prasanna said.
A pistol and two cartridges have been recovered from the accused, he said, adding that the motive behind the crime was not known yet. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, the officer said.
