Veteran journalist, former HLL chairman nominated to Rajya Sabha

Eminent journalist H K Dua and noted entrepreneur and former chairman of Hindustan Lever [ Get Quote ] Limited A K Ganguly have been nominated by the government to the Rajya Sabha.

Sources said on Tuesday that the names have been sent to President Pratibha Patil [ Images ] for her assent.

Dua, who is the Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune, had earlier held top editorial positions in prominent newspapers like The Hindustan Times, The Indian Express and The Times of India [ Images ].

A recipient of the Padma Bhushan, he had also served as the media advisor to former prime minister H D Deve Gowda [ Images ].

Ganguly, who was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan award, the second highest civilian honour, was also a member of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry.
