NIA has not sought Kasab's interrogation: RR Patil

Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil said on Tuesday that the National Investigation Agency has not approached the state government so far to question the 26/11 terror attack accused Ajmal Kasab on his possible links with alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives David Headley and Tahawwur Rana.

However, Patil said the state administration would extend all cooperation to the country's top agency to probe the role of Headley and Rana in the Mumbai terror attacks. "Nobody has approached us to question Kasab... We have been providing all possible help to the agency in their probe in Mumbai", Patil told PTI when asked if NIA had sought permission to question the captured Pakistani gunman involved in the 26/11 strike.

The NIA has registered a case against alleged Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative Headley and his Canadian accomplice Rana for plotting terror attacks in India after they were arrested by FBI in October.

The NIA is also yet to approach the anti-terror court hearing the 26/11 case to question Kasab, who is lodged in a special cell in Arthur Road Central Jail, crime branch sources said.
