Kerala: Karunakaran in hospital, condition better

Veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran, 91, was admitted to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The former Kerala chief minister complained of breathlessness and fever.

Though reports said his condition deteriorated, his family said his condition has slightly improved late in the night. A medical bulletin issued by the hospital also said the same.

The bulletin said it would take 24-48 hours to reduce the respiratory ailments.

Doctors said the top leader's condition was so worse that he was not properly responding to medicines.

Padmaja Venugopal, Karunakaran's daughter, told rediff.com that her father's condition had improved.

Stressing that his father's condition is stable, Karunakaran's son K Muraleedharan said doctors told him that he would be kept under constant monitoring for at least 48 hours.
