At least twelve persons sustained minor injuries when twelve coaches of the Bangalore bound Gandhidham Express derailed at Bhiwandi in Maharashra's Thane district on Wednesday morning.

"Twelve coaches of the Gandhidham Express were derailed when the train was approaching Bhiwandi in Thane district. Twelve passengers sustained injuries," said the Central Railways public relation officer A K Jain.

Another train has been sent to the accident site to take the passengers of the Gandhidham Express, said Jain. The train has left for Bangalore and the relief works are on, he added. This incident, however, has not affected local train services along the Central and Harbour railway lines.
