May 23, 2009 16:38 IST

Bollywood singer Adnan Sami, who has been facing trial in a matrimonial dispute, has been asked by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to furnish documents regarding eight luxurious flats owned by him in suburban Andheri.

In the summons, the ED said investigations had been ordered under Foreign Exchange Management Act against Sami and asked him to furnish documents of his eight flats in Oberoi Sky Garden Society in posh Lokhandwala area of North-west Mumbai and other properties owned by him.

Sami is a Pakistani national and ED is probing whether there is any FEMA violation in purchase of properties by the singer in the country.

"I appeared on Sami's behalf on May 14 and asked time from ED to submit documents," Sami's lawyer Vaibhav Krishna, told PTI.

Sami had gifted these flats to his wife Sabah and the documents were in her possession. Sabah had recently moved a family court following a matrimonial dispute and the singer will apply to the court to get copies of those documents, his lawyer said.
