The Andhra Pradesh police today filed chargesheet against seven accused in the twin terror blasts case which had claimed over 40 persons in 2007.
The chargesheet was filed in one of the terror blasts case at Lumbini park blast, opposite secretariat here, on August 25, 2007 just before another blast at a famous eatery Gukul Chat. The case was investigated by OCTOPUS (Organisation to Counter Terrorist Operations), a special department set up by Andhra Pradesh government to curb control terror activities.
The OCTOPUS, which took up the investigation in November, 2008, filed 1207 pages chargesheet with the first Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
In the chargesheet 159 witnesses have been cited and 221 documents are enclosed with it. Of the seven accused, four were arrested by Mumbai police and brought here on prisoner transfer warrants from MCOCA court, Mumbai while three others allegedly involved in planting bomb at Gokul chat and near Dilsukhnagar area are still at large.
The twin blasts at Gokul Chat at Sultanbazar, Lumbini park cases and recovery of an unexploded bomb at Dilsukhnagar foot-over-bridge are under investigation with OCTOPUS after initial investigation by Central Crime Station and Special Investigation Team of city police.
