Third Front a 'nautanki', says BJP

Though the Lok Sabha polls are spread over five phases, the Bhartiya Janata Party on Thursday said it would be the sixth phase of realignment of parties after the polls that will actually decide who forms the government at the Centre.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar's candid remark to media persons at the party central office in New Delhi to wait for the "sixth phase" is seen as an indirect admission that the BJP is no longer expecting its National Democratic Alliance to win a majority, and hence the talking about the post-poll partners.

His remark came in reaction to the Third Front finally launched from Tumkur in Karnataka on Thursday. He dubbed it as just a "nautanki" and "deception" that will disintegrate the moment the elections are over.

"A combination without ideology or a leader cannot last long and moreover such a gang-up has no chance in the bipolar politics of India that revolves around just two parties -- BJP and Congress," Javadekar added.
