Priyanka Gandhi visits Amethi

March 03, 2009 15:02 IST
A day after the declaration of election schedule by the Election Commission, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday visited her brother Rahul Gandhi's parliamentary constituency—Amethi, and in a pep talk gave "winning tips" to party workers at a Congress Sewadal programme in the Gauriganj area.

Asking party workers to be prepared for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, she told them in a closed door meeting that "Only those who serve the people without any expectations would be remembered in politics," sources said.

The gathering was strictly closed to the media. Priyanka, who reached the venue at around 11.50 am, stayed at the camp for around an hour and interacted with the Sewadal workers.

She asked them to fan out in the Amethi and Raebareli constituencies and highlight development works being done by Rahul and her mother Sonia Gandhi.

She tried to strike an emotional chord with those present by saying that people of Amethi and Raebareli are like her "family members".
