Varun Gandhi meets RSS leaders

BJP MP Varun Gandhi [ Images ], who has drawn criticism from within the party for his alleged hate speech in Pilibhit [ Images ] during the Lok Sabha polls, today met state RSS leaders in Lucknow [ Images ].

While Varun declined to say anything on the meeting RSS Prant Pracharak (Uttar Pradesh [ Images ]) Ashok Beri whom the young MP met confirmed it saying it was a friendly meeting during which BJP's poll debacle was not discussed.

"We exchanged pleasantries over a cup of tea. The poll debacle of the Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ] was not a part of our discussions,'' he said.

However, a senior BJP leader requesting anonymity said, "Varun discussed various things with the RSS leaders including
the progress of the case pertaining to his hate-speech.''

Sources also said that at the meeting of RSS pracharaks of scheduled to be held in Meerut from July 9 to July 12, will discuss various things pertaining to the BJP's debacle in 2009 general elections and also the Varun factor.
