Soon, 24-hr help line for Indian students in Aus

June 24, 2009 08:49 IST

The Australian authorities have proposed to launch a 24-hour help line for Indian students, following Indian government's request to provide security to Indian students in that country.

In a meeting with Minister for Overseas Indian affairs Vayalar Ravi in New Delhi on Tuesday, Australian Education Secretary Lisa Paul said her country is committed to have a help line for Indian students to lodge their complaints and to seek other support.

She also informed that the Australian Education Minister has interacted with Indian students, and added that more information centres will be opened for overseas students.

Vayalar Ravi, however, said that the results needed to be seen on the ground.
