Rahul will take India forward like his father, says Amarinder Singh

Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh felt that it is for Congress president Sonia Gandhi to decide as to when Rahul Gandhi should take over as prime minister. He made the comment while speaking to rediff.com.

"In my view Rahul Gandhi has the skill and leadership required to lead the nation. I think that the whole of India is encouraged by his involvement in public life. But it for Mrs.Gandhi to decide the timing of his take over as prime minister of the country.

The former maharaja of Patiala said that since the 21st century belonged to India hence it required a dynamic young leader like Rahul Gandhi, "Who is sensitive to the needs of the poor of our country, who has a global view and will take India forward in the manner that Rajiv Gandhi did and who will be able to carry everyone forward together. Rahul Gandhi is one of the most dynamic persons in Indian polity."

Oscar Fernandes, former union minister had also expressed similar views in an interview with rediff.com.Singh said, "Younger people in particular are very excited about Rahul Gandhi's presence on the Indian political horizon"
