Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's wife Gursharan Kaur wants the women reservation bill passed "to give the Indian women equal opportunities".

Talking to news persons in New Delhi after the meeting, Kaur refused to take political questions. "I am willing to answer some questions, but not political ones," she said, when rediff.com asked if she would spare time to answer questions.

Talking about the stress prime minister Dr Singh had to undergo during the hectic campaign, she said, "He travelled as much as he could and did whatever was possible. Though you promised not to ask political question you still managed to have your way."

On the Women's Bill, she said, "Let the Bill come up in Parliament. The general feeling amongst women is that the bill should be passed."
