A suicide bomber tonight blew himself up at a police office in the heart of Pakistan's capital Islamabad, killing one policeman and injuring four others.

The suicide bomber tried to force his way into the compound of the Rescue 15 Unit of police office located in downtown area of the city. The security guards at the gate opened fire to stop him when the bomber detonated the explosives.

Police officials at the site said a member of the Rescue 15 Unit was killed and four others injured in the attack.

"It was a suicide attack. A man walked up to a police helpline center, the security tried to stop him but he exploded himself, killing one and injuring four others," a police officer said. The limbs of the bomber were scattered across the compound.
