Advani greets PM in Lok Sabha

June 01, 2009 18:55 IST

On the first day of the 15th Lok Sabha at around 1045 hours when the house was just assembling, Leader of the Opposition Lal Kishenchand Advani on seeing the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh arriving in the Lok Sabha walked across the floor towards Treasury Benches and shook hands with Dr Singh. It was a touching moment.

Advani was accompanied by other Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj and Jaswant Singh.

When Advani shook hands, the prime minister did not come out his seat.  While Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav hugged Advani for a second, Lalu Prasad too came out of his seat to greet Advani, but did not hug him.

Sonia Gandhi was not present in the house when Advani went to Dr Singh's side. When these pleasantries were being exchanged, a large number of newly elected MPs gathered around the prime minister.
