Kasab should be hanged, say kin of slain cops

"It (Kasab's case) should be treated as a special case and on a priority basis Kasab should be hanged as he killed hundreds of people including policemen. When we have all the evidence, then why to delay the conviction?" asked Smita Salaskar, widow of Vijay Salaskar, who was gunned down near Cama hospital during the terror attacks.

Vinita Kamte, the widow of Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte, who was also killed near Cama hospital, said, "Kasab should be convicted at the earliest and India should set an example as to how serious it is when it comes to deal with terrorism."

"We should not give him Afzal Guru's treatment. Despite court's verdict, Afzal Guru, who had attacked the Parliament, has not been hanged yet which is very unfortunate," Kamte said.

Kasab and his associate Abu Ismail killed several policemen including Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar, Ashok Kamte and Tukaram Ombale.

Seeking death for Kasab, Kavita Karkare, wife of slain Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare said, "He must have given the statement to seek sympathy but I am happy that now my husband's killer will be punished soon."

"Kasab should be given capital punishment and should be hanged in public," she said.
