Last updated on: July 22, 2009 18:52 IST
Hardly have the bloodstains from the 26/11 outrage dried than there is an intelligence alert that Pakistan-based extremists could launch another spectacular attack on India.

Can India ward off the threat? Have we as a nation learnt our lessons from the terror attacks on Mumbai?

Experts tell us there has been no significant improvement in our state of preparedness. What it means is that in another such attack, more ordinary people will suffer.

Officialdom, it seems, has no big ideas on how India can confront the challenges from the extremists in Pakistan.

Here's your chance to tell the world your big idea how India can tackle this dangerous challenge from Pakistan-based extremists.

We know that war is not the answer, so don't mail us jingoism.

The editors of rediff.com will choose the five best ideas we get on tackling this threat to India, which will feature on rediff.com and also win a prize.

Each of the five best ideas will win a copy of To Live and Perish Forever by journalist Nicholas Schmidle who worked in Pakistan from 2006 to 2008, when the Taliban spread its tentacles in the country. The book (published by Random House) offers a terrifying glimpse into the extremist leaders he encountered during his stint, and tells you why Pakistan is the way it is today.

So go ahead and post your entry. Tell us in less than 500 words how India can confront the dangerous challenge.
