Six civilians and a paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper were wounded in a grenade explosion in the Magam chowk, 33 km from Srinagar in central Kashmir Budgam district this afternoon.

A senior police officer said militants tossed a grenade at a CRPF vehicle which was parked outside the sub-district hospital in Magam town.

"The grenade exploded near the vehicle, injuring five women, a male bystander and a CRPF trooper. The injured were taken inside the hospital immediately for treatment," the officer said.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast. The area was surrounded by security forces for searches.
