Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, who was hospitalised on Monday, underwent an angioplasty on Tuesday morning.

"Bal Thackeray underwent an angiography followed by an angioplasty. The procedure has been completed and he is doing fine," doctors attending on him said. Thackeray might be discharged in two-three days, they said.

The 83-year-old Sena chief was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra on Monday for a 'routine check-up'.

His son and Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, after arriving from the United States on Monday night, rushed to the hospital, after which the decision on further treatment was taken, Sena sources said.

Thackeray has been ailing for the last few years and has left day-to-day functioning of the party to Uddhav.

Thackeray's nephew and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray visited the hospital on Monday to inquire about his uncle's health.
