The army on Friday recovered bodies of six terrorists buried under an avalanche while trying to infiltrate in March this year, a defence spokesman said in Srinagar.

The spokesman said that a group of six to eight terrorists were buried alive under an avalanche during the infiltration bid while it was snowing in the Gurez sector of the Line of Control in north Kashmir's Bandipore district.

He said the bodies of the militants could not be retrieved because of accumulation of heavy snow in the area. "With the melting of snow, the bodies of the terrorists have been recovered and search is on for other bodies," the spokesman said in a statement. "It is evident from the photographs that the terrorists were well equipped and clothed to infiltrate through the snow laden ridge lines of north Kashmir. Six AK- 47 rifles have also been recovered," the statement said.
