Shotgun rejects offer to join Samajwadi Party

February 19, 2009 21:48 IST
Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday rejected an indirect offer made by the Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh to join his outfit.

"Amar Singh is my friend and a learned person. I respect his feelings, but everything should not be seen with a political angle. I am in the Bharatiya Janata Party and will continue there," Sinha told media persons during the inauguration of Centre for Alternate Medicine at Mahavir Cancer Sansthan in Patna.

Singh's offer came in the form of a Hindi film song Mera dar khula hai khula hi rahega tumhare liye (My doors are open for you and will remain open forever) which he sang before media persons in the presence of Sinha.

Sinha, who shared the platform with the SP leader and actor Sanjay Dutt and his wife Manyata Dutt on the occasion, said there was no politics involved in it.

"We have gathered here for a noble cause for creating awareness about the de-addiction mission," Sinha said.
