Reject dynastic parties: Modi

February 17, 2009 00:05 IST

Stating that majority of the political parties in the country were following "dynastic rule", Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today asked people to reject such parties.

"Majority of the political parties are run by families. One family one party, that is the usual policy. But BJP is the only democratic party in the country with an exception to it", he said at a book-releasing function in Chennai.

Modi alleged that even parties like Congress were not above family politics. "This is a very sad part of Indian politics", he said.

While pointing out the change in political scenario in the United States, Modi said there was family rule for the last 25 to 30 years in America. However, since people there were "tired of family rule, they selected Barack Obama", he said.

He also highlighted various developmental measures undertaken by his government in Gujarat.
