Nigerian terror-suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was on Monday discharged from a Detroit hospital where he was being treated for burn injuries, which he sustained in his failed attempt to blow up a US plane mid-air on Friday.
Abdulmutallab, 23, was released from the Ann Arbour hospital and has been moved to a secure location, the US Marshal Service said.
"The only thing I can give right now is that he is being held at a secure location in the eastern district of Michigan," Kevin Pettit, spokesman for the US Marshal Service in Detroit said when asked about Abdulmutallab.
Yesterday Abdulmutallab was charged by the FBI with "willfully" attempting to destroy the Amsterdam-Detroit Northwest Flight 253 with 290 people on board and with placing a destructive device on the aircraft. The charges were filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit.
He is expected to make his first court room appearance tomorrow.
Meanwhile the US Attorney Terrence Berg said today that the terror suspect could face more serious charge if indicted by a grand jury.
Berg told the Detroit News that sometimes the charges in the indictment are different or more serious than the complaint, but did not give any details.
"The prosecution team in this case will review the evidence and determine what charges, including possibly any other charges, to ask the grand jury to consider," Berg was quoted as saying by the daily.
