K Chandrashekhar Rao who had spearheaded the movement for a seperate state of Telangana, by going on an indefinite hunger strike was discharged from hospital on Friday. Rao was admitted at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences after he had undertaken an indefinite fast demanding the formation of Telangana.

Rao left the hospital in a wheel chair with his supporters cheering him on. Some of the supporters at the hospital said that they are happy that their leader is out of the hospital and is hale and hearty. However they are saddened by the latest developments that are taking place in the Andhra Pradesh's political circles.

Meanwhile most parts of Andhra Pradesh remained shut following a bundh call given by various student and political organisations. The bandh was total in the areas of Vijayawada and Vizag. However no incidents of violence have been reported from any of these areas as yet, the Andhra Pradesh police said.

Several political parties are opposing the formation of Telangana and are demanding that Andhra Pradesh should not be split into two. They have called for a 96-hour bandh to voice in their opinion. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K Rosaiah has appealed to the people of AP to remain calm and not resort to violence. In his appeal he said that any problem could be resolved through peaceful means and violence will not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, the MLAs from the Congress who resigned on Thursday are scheduled to meet with both the prime minister and the home minister. During the meetings they had held with Sonia Gandhi and Law Minister Veerappa Moily on Thursday, they said that AP should not be divided at any cost as it is not the mandate of the majority.
