The whole issue is like match-fixing, says Naidu

December 10, 2009 15:23 IST

Telugu Desam president president N Chandrababu Naidu has held the Congress responsible for the flood of resignations by the members of Assembly from coastal Andhra and Telangana region.

He said that by taking a unilateral decision on a sensitive issue like Telangana without any debate among the people or consulting political parties, the Congress party has created the crisis leading to a panic situation.

Naidu said MLAs and MPS were resigning under tremendous pressure from the people. He alleged that the announcement by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram around midnight last night and rush of Congress MLAs to resign was all part of a "match-fixing".

Of the 75 MLAs who submitted their resignations to Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy today, 40 are from Congress, 15 are from PRP and 20 from the TDP.

Two Lok Sabha members of Congress L Rajagopal from Vijaywada and Venkatram Reddy of Anantpaur, and TDP's K Narayan Rao from Machlipatnam and TDP's Rajya Sabha member MV Mysoora Reddy have also announced their resignations.
