The Russian girl, who was allegedly raped by a politician in Goa, claimed that a group of people linked to the accused had tried to assault her outside a court on Tuesday evening.
The 25-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted when she was returning after the district and sessions court granted anticipatory bail to John Fernandes.
"I was sitting in the car along with my friend when a mob encircled us and tried to attack. Thankfully, the car windows were pulled halfway up and they could not reach us," the girl said.
She said one person from the crowd pounced on the car and retracted after seeing a television journalist arriving at the scene.
"The crowd hurled abuses and threatened me to finish off," she alleged.
The victim said she rushed to Panaji, 30 km away from the scene, to complain to the police about the attempt to assault her.
"I went to Colva police station, where I was referred to Margao police station. They kept shunting me from places to places. Finally, I gave up," she said.
The girl has written to the Russian consulate claiming that she fears for her life and has lost hope of getting justice.
"Justice is important for me but what's more important is my life," she said.
The girl, working as a representative for a starred resort in Goa, has alleged that the police seemed to have no intention of collect evidence in the case.
"They have not even questioned John, while I was called to the Crime Branch office five times after lodging the complaint," she said.
The Russian, who is inclined to withdraw her complaint of rape, has said that "by attending the court proceeding, I understand that without evidence prosecutor will let the accused go scot-free".
The victim, who was dining with another Russian woman at Colva on December 1 night, was allegedly raped by John, who also allegedly spiked her drink.
John Fernandes is a high profile south Goa politician, who had unsuccessfully contested 2007 legislative assembly election from Benaulim constituency under Churchill Alemao's Save Goa Front party.
