Sabarimala under security blanket

Security has been tightened in the hill shrine of Sabarimala in view of the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition.
Contingents of police, CRPF, National Disaster Response Force and armed commandos had been deployed in vital spots at the uphill 'Sannidhanam', where the temple complex is located, and downhill Pampa, senior police officials said.

Inspector General G Baburaj and other senior officers reviewed the security arrangements and crowd management in and around the temple where pilgrims continued to throng for the ongoing `Mandalavilakku' season.

Deputy Inspector General of CRPF K V Madhusoodanan took stock of the deployment of central forces. About 100 specially trained commandos had been deployed in 16 different places. Pilgrims are being allowed to enter the temple premises only after thorough checking.

Earnings cross Rs 34 crore 

The earnings received by the Sabarimala since the beginning of the pilgrimage season from November 15 has crossed Rs 34 crore. This was higher by about Rs 4 crore against the revenue during the corresponding period last year, a release said.
