A Telangana sympathiser, who set himself on fire four days ago protesting the arrest of Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, succumbed to his burn injuries in a hospital in Hyderabad.
K Srikanth (28), who had doused kerosene and set himself ablaze at L B Nagar area while participating in a dharna, died on Thursday night, hospital sources said.
The youth hailing from Nalgonda district was pursuing physiotherapy in a private college here.
Srikanth suffered 70 percent burns and was admitted to a hospital, where he died undergoing treatment, sources said.
This is the second incident after a fresh agitation was launched by the TRS demanding separate statehood.
On December 1, a constable had committed suicide by shooting himself in support of Telangana at Kamareddy town in Nizamabad district.
In the suicide note, the constable wrote "Jai Telangana" and stated, "I am dying for the cause of separate Telangana."
TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is on a fast-unto-death, is undergoing treatment at the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Hyderabad after being shifted from Khammam government hospital.
