NIA to investigate Kozhikode blasts

The National Investigating Agency would investigate the 2006 Kozhikode twin blasts.The union home ministry has issued a notification to this effect.

The NIA has decided to take over the investigation into the twin blasts after taking into consideration the opinion of the Kerala government.The investigation team would reach the state soon, sources indicated. Highly placed sources in the NIA told rediff.com that the agency has decided to take over the Kozhikode twin blast case following the involvement of international terror groups.

The arrest of Thadiyantavida Nasser , an Lashkar-eTayiba operative, has also been a reason for the NIA to take over the investigation of the Kozhikode blast case.

According to the information available with the NIA, Kozhikode blast was the first experiment conducted by the terrorists in the country before the serial blasts in several parts and to conduct a detailed investigation into this blast would reveal several valid points for further investigations .

The Kozhikode blasts has taken place on 3rd March ,2006 in two bus stands of the city. Two policemen and a porter were injured in the blasts. The state police have clear information that it was Thadiyantavida Naseer and Sainudeen alias Sathar bhai who were behind these blasts .
