A team of the National Investigation Agency is probing whether Pakistani born American citizen and Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative David Coleman Headley visited Ajmer after the terror attack on Mumbai last year.
Headley was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in early October from Chicago on charges of plotting terror attacks in India and Denmark.
"NIA investigators are probing whether suspected American terrorist Headley had visited the holy town of Ajmer after the Mumbai terror attacks last year," said Ajmer Superintendent of Police Hari Prasad Sharma.
However, Sharma did not divulge further details about the team and details of their investigation. According to sources, the NIA team has already searched a number of hotels in Pushkar, 15 kms from Ajmer, and taken possession of the guest records.
The team has reportedly received some important inputs and has identified hotels where Headley had stayed as a tourist after the 26/11 terror attacks.
The local media has reported that Headley during his stay had mingled with Israeli tourists and tried to learn more about their language and lifestyle.
