More arrests will be made in the sensational murder of a leading businessman's son, the Kerala police have said.

Addressing the media to brief on the case that has shocked Kerala, Inspector General of Police Vincent M Paul said primary investigations did not indicate the "murder was planned."

Paul George, 32, was killed in the wee hours of Saturday on the Alappuzha-Changanachery route in south Kerala while he was travelling in a car along with his aides. He was allegedly stabbed to death by 12 men traveling in an SUV after an alleged scuffle.

IGP Paul said the arrested men admitted that they were conspiring to extract money from Paul George after his vehicle rammed a bike. The motorcyclist was let off after he was found innocent, Paul said.

Paul George was the son of Muthot M George, managing director of the Rs 20,000 crore (Rs 200 billion) Muthoot group of companies.
