Swine flu claims 12th victim in Bengaluru

Bengaluru recorded its 12th case of death due to the swine flu. This time the victim is a 22-year-old woman from Bengaluru.

Gayatri, the victim was shifted to the Kempe Gowda Hospital on August 17, after she had complained of breathlessness. She was administered Tamiflu on arrival at the hospital. However she passed away on August 20. The test results which reached the hospital on Friday showed that she had died after contracting the deadly H1N1 virus.

This is the 12th death that Bengaluru has seen due to the H1N1 virus. The city stands at second place after Pune which has recorded 16 deaths.

The situation in Bangalore had forced the Chief Secretary to convene an emergency meeting to tackle this problem.
