Aurangabad: Man dies of suspected swine flu

One person died of suspected swine flu in a government hospital at Aurangabad in Maharashtra today.

According to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) sources, Raosaheb Madhavrao Raute (47) died this afternoon.
He had swine flu-like symptoms and was admitted to the GMCH this morning.

Raute was undergoing treatment in a private hospital of the city since the last four days. His condition deteriorated in the afternoon and he was shifted to the special ward, where he died, they said. Result of his swab test was sent to Pune's National Institute of Virology (NIV) is awaited, Civil Surgeon P S Gavali said.

The swab test reports of eight more patients, including a woman, who died on Sunday, were found negative, the district administration said. Meanwhile, reports from Parbhani district said a 19-year-old medical student, who came to the city from Mumbai, was found infected with HINI virus.

He was admitted to Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai a week ago. He tested positive for H1N1 virus at Parbhani Civil Hospital, a doctor said.

Tests were also carried on his parents and brother and their swab samples have been sent to NIV for testing, said District Civil Surgeon R B Kulkarni.
