Assam Governor Syed Sibtey Razi on Tuesday dismissed as 'absolutely false' reports that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked him to resign from the post, in the wake of raids on two of his former aides, who had worked for him while he was the Governor of Jharkhand. He asserted that he would complete his full term in office.
Sources in the Prime Minister's Office also termed the media reports as 'totally untrue'.
"Yeh bilkul galat hai (This is absolutely false)," Razi told reporters when he was asked whether the prime minister has asked him to quit. He was on his way to meet Home Minister P Chidambaram in North Block.
"It is all false. There is no allegation. Whatever has come in the newspapers are all false," Razi said earlier when asked about reports of corruption in the Raj Bhavan when he was in Jharkhand.
Asked whether he would be completing his term, which is coming to an end in October, he said he would complete his term as the Governor of Assam.
All India Congress Committee General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi also expressed ignorance about any controversy involving the Governor. "We are not aware of any such thing," he said.
