An Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi student was among 22 fresh cases of swine flu reported from across the country on Wednesday.
The total number of persons afflicted with the disease reached 596 with this. Five cases were reported from Delhi, three from Gurgaon, four from Mumbai, three from Pune, and one each from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mangalore, Jamshedpur, Chennai, Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur.
In Delhi, four out of the five cases are contacts of previously reported positive patients who had reported to the stipulated health facility.
The IIT student is a resident of Faridabad and has been admitted to a Delhi hospital.
In the fifth case, the patient arrived in New Delhi travelling from Singapore via Bangkok.
In Gurgaon out of the three cases, two are school contacts of previously reported positive persons who developed symptoms and reported to the health facility.
Four new cases reported from Mumbai for the day. The first is a 17-year-old male who travelled from Germany.
Of the three cases in Pune, two are contact cases of previously reported positive patients. After developing symptoms of the disease, they were admitted at the government health facility.
The third case is a 52-year-old female who travelled from Manila to Delhi and from Delhi to Pune.
In Bangalore, a 32-year old male who travelled from USA via Dubai tested positive.
The case from Hyderabad is a 13-year-old girl, a contact of a previously reported case, who developed symptoms on August 3 and was admitted at the health facility.
